A/C DIAGNOSING
A customer’s concern is warm air coming from the vents with the air conditioning on. The technician confirms the concern and notices water dripping from under the vehicle. What should be checked first?
The duct work. A functioning air conditioning system absorbs the heat from the interior of the vehicle using the evaporator. As the heat is removed from the air the moisture is condensed on the evaporator and will drain outside of the vehicle. Because there was water dripping under the vehicle indicating that the air conditioning system was functioning enough for this to occur, checking the duct work would be the best place to start diagnosis.
